Joshua's Birthday

A REMINDER

For over 87 years the APA of Missouri has been placing people and pets together.  We say that sentence often at the APA.   It is a constant reminder of why we are here.  But every so often someone comes along that really drives that message home.  In this case, the message came from a compassionate little boy.
Being a passionate film maker who runs DreamWelder productions in St. Louis, Jay Kelley wanted to give his 2-year-old son Joshua a unique gift for his birthday.  What he created quickly became a You Tube sensation.  With nearly 1 million hits, the video “A Boy and His Dog” became one of the most viewed animal-related videos on You Tube.

Three years later after a talk with his parents, Joshua decided he didn’t want presents for his 5th birthday, but rather wanted his friends and family to bring donations to help the animals at the APA.  His party was successful.  Very successful.  Joshua raised over $400 for the APA! And, at the suggestion of his wife Diana, Jay made a follow-up video to preserve this memory.

Unbeknownst to him, Joshua not only raised money for the pets in need, he raised national awareness. Like Joshua, the APA treasures the bond that people share with their pets and we hope that everyone can experience that bond.  From the hearts of all the homeless pets around the country and the APA of Missouri, thank you Joshua.
