The "Happy Tails" that Make Us Smile!

There’s no question the most rewarding part of our work here at the APA is bringing a cat or dog together with a caring human family. It happens thousands of times a year, but sharing that moment of connection when the adoption is complete and the new companions leave our shelter together is always a thrill. And it’s sure to create misty eyes among the staff.

Many happy adopters take the time to send us a note of thanks (often with a picture) and an update on how the new family member is doing. We treasure these and we’re proud to share a few with you.

If you’ve adopted from us, we’d be happy to include your story here. Just send a note and picture to Adoption Supervisor, APA, 1705 S. Hanley, St. Louis MO 63144 or via e-mail at julie@apamo.org.

“Colby” is Very Much at Home

This photo came in a card that seems to have been written by Colby himself. He wants his “old friends at the APA” to know that he couldn’t be happier in his new home. Reminding us that he was just a little pudgy when he left here, he says his new mom has him on a diet. But…while she’s unloading the groceries, he knows where to find the food!

A Valentine Card from “Rosie”

Rosie also took pen in paw to keep in touch, telling us she’s doing a great job of training her new family. They’re ready to drop everything to join her in a dance, go out for a breath of fresh air or give her a good snuggle whenever she needs it. (A lot!) She signed off with a note that she was off for a nap with her new “stuff friends,”

A dog and a hedge hog.

“Scooter” is All Grown Up

Our intake photo of the little kitten we called Noah shows a scrawny guy who was nevertheless full of life and ready to play. Today, he answers to Scooter, and it’s obvious he’s well-fed and well loved. His family tells us he “loves water, likes to jump and likes the other cats.”

My Buddy – From Rags to Riches!

Just a year ago, this beautiful fellow was brought to us as a stray. A miniature poodle mix, he was sorely in need of a good bath and a trim. Here he is today, the beloved pet of a family who call him “My Buddy” and are proud to let us know he’s as smart as he is handsome.
